“A Mid-Summer Night’s Rugby Dream”

What a summer of rugby we have had so far!
As I write this, the British and Irish Lions are preparing for the first test against the Wallabies in Brisbane. The Lions appear to be coming together at the right time, and since the defeat to Argentina in Dublin, they have gone unbeaten Down Under, with some scintillating rugby on display.
The home nations are also on tour, with England leaving South America with a 2-0 Series win against the Jaguars, and heading to the US for their final tour game. Scotland, meanwhile, take on Samoa, having been the first home nation team tour Fiji for 30 years, and Wales will be returning home finally breaking their unwanted losing streak of 18 games against Japan.
Even when the Lions come home, there is still rugby to watch as the Red Roses look to claim the World Cup that they narrowly missed out in 2021, on home soil.
And so to news closer to home:
1. We had fantastic Work Party on the 6th July. Thank you to the 40 or so volunteers who did a great job on clearing the containers, weeding, strimming and numerous other tasks. Still more to do, so please add 31st August to your diary for the second working party to be followed by a family day in the afternoon.
2. Paul McGoohan wishes to retire as Honorary Secretary after many years of dedicated service. Paul will release a job description soon. He has said that he will carry on for a short time until a new volunteer is found. Please give this serious consideration for this essential club post.

3. As Pre-season sessions start up, please take extra care as you’re out on the pitches. As well as the heat, the ground is extremely hard and liable to cause grass burns.
